Join our vibrant Upper School community where academic excellence meets personal growth! Webb School of Knoxville seeks a passionate Spanish educator to inspire students in grades 9-12 while fostering their development as global citizens and confident young adults.

As an integral member of our Upper School faculty, you will teach Spanish in a dynamic, proficiency-based program that prepares students for college success and global engagement. You will work alongside dedicated colleagues in a supportive environment that values innovation, collaboration, and the holistic development of each student.

Key Responsibilities

In collaboration with the Upper School team and under the supervision of the Head of the Upper School, the Director of Faculty and Instructional Programs, and the Chair of the World Languages Department, you will:

  • Care for, guide, and advise young people to become happy, healthy adults through meaningful mentorship, active listening, and support;

  • Teach Spanish to Upper School students (levels I-V and AP) using proficiency-based methodologies that emphasize communication and cultural competency;

  • Plan and implement engaging, differentiated curriculum that meets diverse learning styles and prepares students for college-level coursework;

  • Create a supportive classroom environment where students feel confident taking risks with language learning;

  • Integrate educational technology and innovative teaching methods to enhance language acquisition;

  • Participate actively in faculty meetings, curriculum discussions, and professional development opportunities;

  • Assess students’ academic progress and provide timely, constructive feedback through grades, narrative reports, and conferences.

  • Maintain regular communication with students, families, and colleagues regarding academic progress and student well-being;

  • Potentially serve as an academic advisor to a small group of students, contributing to their personal and academic growth;

  • Uphold and model the core values and mission of Webb School of Knoxville;

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Spanish, Education, or related field; a Master’s degree is preferred

  • Teaching experience, preferably at the high school level

  • Near-native Spanish proficiency with strong cultural knowledge

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaborative skills

  • Commitment to Webb School of Knoxville's mission of developing the whole child
