Summary of the Position: The Montgomery Academy offers both introductory and advanced courses in Latin, Spanish and French as part of the World Language Department. We offer introductory sections of Latin through both AP level Latin courses in Grades 7-12. A typical class load consists of teaching five sections.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach multiple sections of Latin (from introductory to advanced sections). Ability to teach additional World Languages is also a consideration.
- Effectively manage a Learning Management System (LMS)
- Serve as an advisor teacher
- Effectively integrate appropriate educational technology into the curriculum
- Integrate the language of leadership and character development into the classroom
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Latin, Classics or Classical Languages, advanced degree preferred
- Comfort in teaching both Latin at both introductory and advanced levels
- Independent school teaching experience preferred
- Creative, enthusiastic and growth-mindset approach to 21st century learning
- Experience in the use of educational technology
- Commitment to holistic student development
- Commitment to the developmental support for Middle School and Upper School students
- Ability and/or willingness to coach or support another co-curricular activity is a plus.
