Job purpose
The Science teacher shall prayerfully help students learn attitudes, skills, and subject matter that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible Christian men and women, to the praise and glory of God. This position is an in-person, on-campus role.

Spiritual
- Interact with the students in a manner promoting the goal of wanting each child to be known, valued, and loved.
- Must show by example the importance of scripture memorization and study, prayer, witnessing, and unity in Christian fellowship.
- Should maintain a supporting and nurturing relationship with students.
- Should motivate students to accept God’s gift of salvation and grow in their faith.
- Will work to lead students to a realization of their self-worth in Christ.
Instructional
- Shall recognize the role of parents as primarily responsible before God for their child’s education and assist them in the task.
- Shall plan broadly through the use of semester and quarterly plans and objectives as detailed in the course/content area curriculum guide.
- Shall integrate biblical principles and a Christian worldview philosophy of education throughout the curriculum and instruction.
- Shall affect student learning through mastery of the subject material by utilizing valid teaching techniques to achieve curriculum goals within the framework of the school’s philosophy.
- Shall plan a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students, challenging each to do his/her best work.
- Shall employ a variety of instructional aids, methods, and materials that will provide for creative teaching to reach the child’s spiritual, mental, physical, social, and emotional needs.
- Shall support the LEAP program and follow through on student accommodations, modifications, etc.
- Shall plan through approved channels the balanced use of field trips, guest speakers, and other media.
- Shall use homework effectively for drill, review, enrichment, or project work and follow grade-level time guidelines.
Non-Instructional
- Shall assess the learning of students regularly and provide progress reports as required.
- Shall keep proper discipline in the classroom and on the school premises for a good teaching environment.
- Shall maintain a clean, attractive, well-ordered classroom.
- Shall maintain regular and accurate attendance and grade records to meet the demands for a comprehensive knowledge of each student’s progress.
- Shall inform the principal if unable to fulfill any duty assigned and request a substitute teacher and prepare adequate information and materials for him/her.
- Shall cooperate with the Board and Administration in implementing all policies, procedures, and directives governing the operation of the school.
- Shall notify the principal of any policy he/she is unable to fully support.
- Shall keep students, parents, and the principal adequately informed of progress or deficiencies and give sufficient notice of pending failure.
- Shall supervise extra-curricular activities, organizations, and outings as assigned.
Professional
- Shall utilize educational opportunities and evaluation processes for professional growth.
- Shall obtain and maintain a current standard ACSI teaching certificate.
- Shall seek the counsel of the principal, colleagues, and parents while maintaining a teachable attitude.
- Shall provide input and recommendations for administrative and managerial functions in the school.
- Shall attend and participate in scheduled campus and/or school meetings: devotions, prayer, faculty, State of GRACE, homecoming, graduation, etc.
General
- Shall seek to role model in attitude, speech, and actions as consistent with a daily walk with Jesus Christ.
- Shall follow the Matthew 18 principle in dealing with students, parents, staff, and administration.
- Shall support the broader program of the school by attending extra-curricular activities as requested.
- Shall know the procedures for dealing with issues of an emergency nature.
- Shall contribute to the general improvement of the school program.
- Shall refuse to use or circulate confidential information inappropriately.
- Shall perform any other duties which may be assigned by the Head of School.
- Shall demonstrate the character qualities of enthusiasm, courtesy, flexibility, integrity, gratitude, kindness, self-control, perseverance, and punctuality.
- Shall meet everyday stress with emotional stability, objectivity, and optimism.
- Shall respectfully submit and be loyal to constituted authority.
- Shall maintain a personal appearance that is a role model of cleanliness, modesty, good taste, and in agreement with school policy.
- Shall be an effective communicator in written and oral communication.
- Shall recognize the need for good public relations and represent the school favorably and professionally to the constituency and general public, including in the use of social media.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
- ACSI Certification preferred; ACSI Certification required.
- Prior teaching experience is highly preferred.
- Understanding of child development for ages of students in class or grade.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer or standing to teach.
- Must be able to lift to 15 pounds.
- Must be able to traverse the classroom and adjust one’s tone and height, by bending or leaning, to teach each child.
