Position Summary: This position involves a full-time middle school teaching position, primarily teaching beginning Spanish classes at Level 1. This position begins on August 1, 2025.
Specific Duties Include:
- Instructing students in subject content along with reading and grading student work
- Demonstrating a high level of responsiveness to students
- Serving as a homeroom teacher to a group of middle school students
- Experience with proficiency-based instruction in an immersive environment preferred
- Managing student behavior in a manner that optimizes the learning environment
- Maintain regular communication with students and their parents regarding progress
- Working cooperatively with other grade-level teachers to implement common course syllabi and assessments
Required Skills:
- Have a working knowledge and experience teaching high school Spanish
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrating tact and diplomacy
- Ability to leverage technology, including but not limited to, Microsoft Office, Google apps, language lab software, and interactive whiteboard technology
- A solid understanding of learning challenges as well as the accommodations and differentiated learning techniques to support such
- Strong organizational and classroom management skills
Minimum Job Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in Spanish or Foreign Language Education from an accredited institution of higher learning; master’s degree in Spanish or education preferred; native or near native fluency in Spanish
- 3+ years of successful teaching high school Spanish preferred
- Independent school experience preferred, but not required
The Spanish Teacher, Middle School position is a exempt, 10-month position. Salary is commensurate with education and experience, and substantial benefits are available.
