Position Summary
B’nai Shalom Day School is seeking a passionate, creative, and collaborative General Studies Teacher for the Lower School. The ideal candidate will foster a classroom environment that promotes academic growth, social-emotional development, and a strong sense of identity and community. This teacher will be responsible for delivering an integrated, student-centered curriculum in language arts, mathematics, social studies, and science.
Key Responsibilities
Design and implement engaging lessons in core academic subjects that align with curriculum standards and the developmental needs of elementary students.
Create a classroom culture that nurtures curiosity, creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration.
Use a variety of instructional strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
Integrate technology thoughtfully to enhance learning and engagement.
Regularly assess student progress and use data to inform instruction and provide feedback.
Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines, including Jewish Studies and Specialists, to support an interdisciplinary and inclusive approach to learning.
Partner with families to support each student’s academic and social-emotional growth.
Participate actively in faculty meetings, professional development, and school-wide initiatives.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
Valid teaching certification preferred.
Minimum of 2 years classroom teaching experience.
Strong understanding of child development and best practices in progressive, student-centered education.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Commitment to ongoing professional growth and reflective practice.
