Lower School General Studies Teacher

Position Summary

B’nai Shalom Day School is seeking a passionate, creative, and collaborative General Studies Teacher for the Lower School. The ideal candidate will foster a classroom environment that promotes academic growth, social-emotional development, and a strong sense of identity and community. This teacher will be responsible for delivering an integrated, student-centered curriculum in language arts, mathematics, social studies, and science.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement engaging lessons in core academic subjects that align with curriculum standards and the developmental needs of elementary students.

• Create a classroom culture that nurtures curiosity, creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration.

• Use a variety of instructional strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of students.

• Integrate technology thoughtfully to enhance learning and engagement.

• Regularly assess student progress and use data to inform instruction and provide feedback.

• Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines, including Jewish Studies and Specialists, to support an interdisciplinary and inclusive approach to learning.

• Partner with families to support each student’s academic and social-emotional growth.

• Participate actively in faculty meetings, professional development, and school-wide initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.

• Valid teaching certification preferred.

• Minimum of 2 years classroom teaching experience.

• Strong understanding of child development and best practices in progressive, student-centered education.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Commitment to ongoing professional growth and reflective practice.

• Appreciation for and willingness to support the values and traditions of a Jewish day school environment.
