UPPER SCHOOL:
SPANISH TEACHER
 

The Oakwood School seeks an energetic, creative Upper School Spanish teacher for the 2025-2026 school year to begin August 15, 2025. This full-time position includes teaching 8th-grade Spanish, Spanish I through Spanish V, and Advanced Placement (AP). The ideal candidate is passionate about language instruction and cultural learning and will bring creativity, energy, and professionalism to the classroom and broader school community.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Teach Spanish courses to students in grades 8 through 12, including AP Spanish.

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons that help students build language proficiency and cultural awareness.

  • Adjust instruction to support a range of learners.

  • Assess and track student progress and provide timely, clear feedback.

  • Communicate regularly with students and families to support learning and growth.

  • Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to a positive school culture.

  • Participate in school life beyond the classroom, including advisory, clubs, and special events.

  • Serve as a mentor and supportive presence for students.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish, Spanish Education, or a related field (Master’s preferred).

  • Fluency in Spanish with strong reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills.

  • Experience teaching Spanish to middle and/or high school students, including advanced courses.

  • A clear understanding of the academic and developmental needs of Upper School students.

  • Comfortable using a variety of teaching methods and classroom technology.

  • A collaborative mindset and interest in being part of an engaged school community.
