St. David’s School in Raleigh, NC seeks a dynamic school leader to become the next Middle School Principal, providing vision, oversight, and support for all aspects of the 5th through 8th grade journey.

The Middle School Principal serves as a member of the leadership team and reports directly to the Head of School. This year-round position begins July 2025 (July 2026 candidates are welcome to apply as well). Salary and benefits are competitive, and the work environment is collegial.
The Middle School Principal will:
* Lead, develop, and inspire a team of Middle School staff and faculty in alignment with the St. David’s School mission, core values, and portrait of a graduate
* Work with the Head of School and leadership team to guide Middle School philosophy, culture, and strategy across all constituents
* Work with the Middle School Assistant Principal, four Middle School grade chairs, and other school leaders to oversee all elements of the Middle School division, including the academic program, co-curricular opportunities, student-life, and student accountability
* Be visible and actively participate in all aspects of Middle School life, including visiting classrooms, attending a wide variety of events, and engaging with students and parents in carpool, lunch, and during class transitions.
* Serve as a school-wide storyteller, visionary, and cheerleader for Middle School students and student life
* Model the hallmarks of teaching and learning in the classroom, as outlined in the curriculum guide
* Foster compassionate accountability in discipline that maintains nurturing boundaries and cultivates developmentally appropriate agency in Middle School students
* Maintain handbook policies and procedures related to Middle School students
* Manage the division budget
* Communicate proactively and responsively with all constituents
* Ensure safety and security is prioritized around all Middle School programs, events, and daily procedures
* Work closely with the Admissions team to recruit and evaluate prospective students and participate actively in strategic fund development alongside the Advancement team
* Champion St. David’s School internally and externally, participating in the life of the school, cultivating school spirit, and building networks with community partners
* Work collaboratively with the other division principals and department directors to deliver on the school’s mission and strategic priorities.
* Lead initiatives as directed by the Head of School
Requirements:
* An evident devotion to the Lord and a mature Christian faith
* A bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred
* Academic leadership experience (e.g. chair, dean, principal, division head) with experience managing direct reports, and preferably in an independent school setting
* At least 5 years of classroom teaching experience
* Outstanding oral and written communication skills and diligent attention to detail
* A calling to invest in the lives of students and an imagination for contributing to a connected school community
