Job Description

Charleston Collegiate School seeks a dedicated and compassionate Secondary Support Educator to work with students in grades 6 through 8, providing targeted academic support, implementing and coaching students to acquire and use intervention strategies, teaching small group classes, and collaborating on academic intervention and behavior plans. This position requires a collaborative professional with strong instructional skills, an ability to build positive relationships, and a commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide targeted small group instruction in core academic areas, adapting research-based strategies to meet diverse learning needs, including executive functioning challenges and learning differences.
  • Develop and implement individualized academic and behavior support plans in collaboration with teachers, families, and school counselors to promote student success.
  • Monitor student progress using data-driven approaches, adjusting interventions and instructional methods to ensure consistency and effectiveness across subjects.
  • Co-teach and support secondary classes in alignment with the school’s curriculum, fostering an inclusive and engaging learning environment.
  • Communicate regularly with families to share updates on student progress, support strategies, and enrichment opportunities.
  • Actively contribute to student-life activities, such as advisory programs, clubs, and after-school initiatives, to strengthen connections within the school community.
  • Stay current with best practices in education by participating in professional development and applying innovative instructional techniques.
  • Demonstrate a positive, flexible mindset and a commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment that supports academic, social, and emotional growth.

Qualifications 

  • College Degree (minimum Bachelors) 
  • Good working knowledge of Google Suite
  • Efficient typing, email, database, spreadsheet, and internet skills 
  • Ability to communicate effectively and get along with co-workers and management  
  • Ability to maintain regular and timely attendance  
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, problem-solve, and manage multiple projects
  • Ability to present a professional image as a representative of the School  
  • Current in First-aid training or equivalent
