Position: Lower School Teacher
School: Kerr-Vance Academy

Reports to: Head of Lower School

Position Overview
Kerr-Vance Academy seeks a dedicated and passionate Lower School Teacher to foster a love of learning in young students and create a dynamic, engaging, and nurturing classroom environment. The ideal candidate will be committed to upholding the school’s mission and core values while implementing best educational practices.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons that align with the school’s rigorous academic expectations.

  • Foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment that supports student growth and success.

  • Utilize formative and summative assessments to guide instruction and measure student progress.

  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.

  • Integrate technology and innovative teaching strategies to enhance learning.

  • Collaborate with colleagues in Professional Learning Teams (PLTs) to share best practices and ensure cohesive instruction across grade levels.

  • Maintain regular communication with parents regarding student progress, classroom activities, and school events.

  • Contribute to the school community by participating in extracurricular activities, committees, and professional development.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

  • Experience in elementary education, preferably in an independent school setting.

  • Familiarity with iReady or willingness to learn and implement iReady as an instructional tool.

  • Strong ability to collaborate with colleagues and engage in Professional Learning Teams (PLTs).

  • Commitment to fostering intellectual curiosity, student engagement, and a passion for lifelong learning.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
