Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW
Evangelical Christian School (ECS) is seeking a passionate and dedicated 9th Grade English Teacher who will inspire students to develop strong reading, writing, and critical thinking skills through the lens of a Christian worldview. This individual will guide students in analyzing literature, honing their communication skills, and engaging with texts in a way that deepens their understanding of truth, beauty, and goodness. Additionally, this teacher will be responsible for discipling a small group of students, fostering spiritual growth and mentorship through daily meetings.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

English Teacher (Grade 9):

  • Teach 9th-grade English, incorporating literature, writing, and grammar instruction within a biblical worldview.

  • Develop engaging and rigorous lesson plans that encourage critical thinking, literary analysis, and clear written and verbal communication.

  • Foster a subject-centered learning environment that promotes discussion, creativity, and collaboration.

  • Guide students in analyzing classic and contemporary literature while making meaningful connections to their faith.

  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing meaningful feedback and support to help students grow academically.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to align curriculum and share best practices for effective instruction.

Discipleship & Student Mentorship:

  • Lead a small D Group (Discipleship Group) that meets daily, encouraging students in their spiritual growth, character development, and biblical understanding.

  • Build strong relationships with students, providing guidance, encouragement, and accountability.

  • Model Christian character both inside and outside the classroom, fostering a Christ-centered school culture.

  • Pray for and with students, guiding them in applying biblical truth to their daily lives.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred

Experience:

  • Prior teaching experience at the high school level is preferred.

  • A strong personal commitment to faith in Christ and the ability to integrate biblical principles into teaching.

  • A passion for mentoring and discipling students in both academic and spiritual growth.
