The Middle School Math and Science Teacher is a full-time, 10 month position in grades 6-8. In this role, the ideal candidate will foster and facilitate the intellectual, spiritual, and social development of our students. Working with a team of teachers and administrators, the desirable candidate will use his/her faith and Biblical knowledge to create an enthusiastic learning environment, based on Charlotte Mason principles, that inspires children to love the process of learning.
The ideal candidate is able to:
- Collaborate with the teaching team to create units of study that are appropriate, academically rigorous, and as hands-on as possible
- Understand and be able to implement a variety of activities and instructional methods (songs, stories, media, structured games, art, outdoor activities, etc.) to motivate and stimulate children’s natural curiosity
- Maintain an open line of communication with parents and provide appropriate information following the Matthew 18 principle
- Assess student performance and progress using a variety of techniques to ensure mastery
- Integrate Biblical truth and worldview in all lessons
- Monitor students' daily progress to support individualized instructional goals and adapt as needed to reach multiple learning styles and abilities effectively
- Effectively manage the classroom and build relationships with students with an emphasis on understanding the whole child
- Collaborate with the grade level teaching team on all student-related matters
The ideal candidate would have:
- At least three years of lead teaching experience in an age-appropriate middle school classroom
- Prior experience in a Christian school environment
- An understanding of Charlotte Mason principles and how to implement them in the classroom
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Knowledge of the FACTS student information system platform
- An understanding of various learning differences and how to accommodate them in the classroom setting
