We are seeking a dynamic, creative, and passionate educator to join our faculty as a Latin Teacher, responsible for teaching 7th-grade introductory Latin, 8th-grade Latin I, and Latin I-IV. The ideal candidate will have the vision and skills to grow our Latin program, inspire a love for classical languages and cultures, and support student success in a faith-centered academic environment. Candidates with the ability to teach an additional subject or elective are strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
Teach Latin courses, including:
7th-grade semester introduction to Latin and Roman culture.
8th-grade Latin I (designed as a full-year high school credit course).
Latin I-IV for high school students, focusing on developing advanced linguistic skills and deepening cultural and historical understanding.
Develop and implement engaging, student-centered lessons that align with school curriculum standards and support a range of learning abilities.
Use dynamic teaching methods, including the potential incorporation of Comprehensible Input (not required but highly desirable).
Collaborate with colleagues to foster interdisciplinary opportunities and support the school’s overall language program.
Contribute to the development and growth of the Latin program, including participation in extracurricular activities, such as Latin Club or related cultural events.
Encourage and mentor students, instilling a love for learning and an appreciation for classical studies.
Maintain effective communication with parents and students, providing regular updates on progress and performance.
Participate in department meetings, professional development opportunities, and school-wide events.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Latin, Classical Studies, Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
Demonstrated experience teaching Latin at middle or high school levels.
Strong understanding of Latin grammar, vocabulary, and Roman culture/history.
Ability to create engaging and interactive learning environments.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Willingness to contribute to the school’s mission and Christian values.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience teaching with Comprehensible Input strategies or a willingness to learn.
Ability to teach an additional subject or elective, such as history, literature, or another world language.
Familiarity with integrating technology and innovative practices into the classroom.
Involvement in extracurricular activities or leadership opportunities.
