Lower Elementary Teacher (Montessori Training Sponsorship Available!)

Full time Teacher

Job Description

Think there’s a better way to educate children than traditional schooling? So do we.

At Keystone Montessori School, we believe education should be hands-on, engaging, and tailored to each child—not one-size-fits-all. Montessori classrooms are designed to nurture independence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning. If you’re passionate about working with children and open to a different way of teaching, we invite you to observe our elementary classroom and see if Montessori could be the right fit for you.

What Does a Montessori Lower Elementary Classroom Look Like?

Montessori classrooms are multi-age communities, where children ages 6-9 learn together in a collaborative, respectful environment. Instead of desks and textbooks, you’ll see children working with hands-on materials—exploring math with beads, researching topics of interest, and engaging in self-directed learning. Teachers act as guides, giving small-group lessons tailored to each child’s level and helping students develop independence and critical thinking. It's a classroom that fosters curiosity, problem-solving, and a love of learning.

We are looking for a Lower Elementary Teacher to join our team for the 2025-26 school year. No Montessori training? No problem! We are offering full sponsorship for the right candidate to earn their AMI Montessori Elementary certification, with a commitment to teaching at our school for five years post-graduation.

Why Join Us?

Established in 2013 in Charlotte, NC, Keystone Montessori School is a non-profit, independent Montessori school with a reputation for excellence. Our community includes two Children’s House (ages 3-6) classrooms, one Lower Elementary (ages 6-9) classroom, and an expanding Upper Elementary (ages 9-12) program opening in 2025.

We are a school that values collaboration, respect, and joy—for children, families, and staff alike. We take great pride in creating beautifully prepared environments and supporting teachers as they grow in their craft.

Responsibilities:

As a Lower Elementary teacher at Keystone Montessori, you will:

  • Guide children (ages 6-9) in a multi-age, hands-on, self-directed learning environment.

  • Implement the Montessori curriculum using specialized materials (training provided).

  • Create a positive, respectful, and engaging classroom culture.

  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and school leadership to support each child’s growth.

Qualifications:

  • A passion for working with children and a belief in hands-on, student-centered learning.

  • Bachelor’s degree (any field) and teaching experience preferred, but not required.

  • Openness to a career shift into Montessori education.

  • Willingness to complete Montessori training (fully sponsored) and commit to our school for five years after certification.

What We Offer:

  • Full sponsorship for AMI Montessori training.

  • A supportive school community with Montessori-trained leadership.

  • Competitive salary and benefits, including:

    • Health, dental, and vision insurance.

    • AMI membership.

    • Retirement match after two years of employment.

  • A workplace that values joy, curiosity, and collaboration.
