Position: Lead Teacher Reports to:  Director of Preschool

Division: Preschool FLSA Status:  Exempt  

Employed: Full Time, 10 months, onsite Direct Reports: None

 

Job Summary

The Preschool Lead Teacher is responsible for planning, implementing, and assessing a developmentally appropriate curriculum for children in the preschool age group. The Lead Teacher is responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating learning environment that promotes the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of each child.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum for children in the 3k age group.

  • Create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating learning environment that promotes the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of each child.

  • Supervise and interact with children to promote their learning and development.

  • Conduct ongoing assessments of each child's progress and development and maintain accurate and up-to-date records.

  • Communicate regularly with parents about their child's progress and development.

  • Collaborate with other teachers and staff to plan and coordinate classroom activities and events.

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom environment.

  • Attend staff meetings, professional development workshops, and other school-related events as required.

  • Adhere to all school policies and procedures.

Key Qualifications

 

Education:  Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.

  • Experience working with children in the preschool age group.

  • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices and curriculum.

  • Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with others.

  • Must be able to pass a background check and fingerprinting.

Additional Skills/Abilities:  

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.

  • Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time.

  • Must be able to bend, stoop, and kneel as needed.

  • Must be able to effectively communicate with children and adults.

Work hours are Monday through Friday 7:30 AM - 12:30 PM.
