Title: High School Directed Studies Teacher
Reports To: Head of High School
 
Qualifications: Minimum bachelor’s degree (advanced degree preferred); valid Georgia professional certification in special education preferred or a minimum of five years of demonstrated instructional excellence teaching neurodiverse high school learners. All duties and responsibilities are essential job functions and requirements and are subject to possible modification to reasonably accommodate individuals with disabilities. To perform this job successfully, the incumbent(s) will possess the skills, aptitudes, and abilities to perform each duty proficiently. Job Description: The High School Directed Studies (Special Education) Teacher is given the duty of instructing neurodiverse students on such a level as to allow them to obtain proficiency in their subject levels at a grade-appropriate level.
Along with direct effective and responsive instruction based on neurodiverse pedagogical research, this teacher will collaborate with other faculty members to champion and best support neurodiverse learners within the MPCS community. In addition, the High School Directed Studies Teacher will collaborate with the guidance counselor on the best implementation of accommodations based on psychoeducational evaluations and knowing each student on an individual basis.
 
Physical Requirements: Lifting and transporting boxes not exceeding 20 pounds; ability to stand for long periods of time while instructing; excellent hearing abilities; physical ability to transport students from one area of a building/campus to another
