Oak Hill School (www.oakhillschool.org)  is a preK-6th coeducational, non-denominational independent school in Nashville, Tennessee. Oak Hill School provides a strong, child-centered academic program in a nurturing, Christian environment. Oak Hill School is committed to the intellectual, social, and spiritual growth of each of its 560 students.

We are currently seeking a dynamic, high energy, collaborative and detail-oriented Athletic Director to oversee our athletic programming. This is a 12-month position beginning July 1, 2025.  

The Athletic Director leads and manages Oak Hill School's interscholastic, intramural, and clinic athletic offerings. S/he is charged with integrating the school’s mission and vision into its offerings, coaching philosophy, and program management. 

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary advocate for the athletic department, embodying the School’s values and mission 

  • Forge and maintain strong relationships with coaches, students, faculty and staff, parents, and alumni to foster a supportive and enthusiastic athletic community

  • Engage with parents and the broader community to emphasize the importance of athletics in students’ development and the School’s mission

  • Promote and organize events, activities, and initiatives that enhance the athletic program's visibility and reputation within and outside the school community

  • Recruit, hire, evaluate, and mentor coaches

  • Ensure regular and relevant professional development for all coaches

  • Manage the scheduling of all games, practices, officials, and referees

  • Collaborate with school administrators in the creation and implementation of school athletic programs 

  • Partner with the Facilities Team on care and upkeep of athletics facilities 

  • Partner with the First Presbyterian Church Recreational Department for the collaborative scheduling of games and practices 

  • Manage inventory of athletic equipment and uniforms, and facilitate repair, replacement, and upgrades as needed

  • Implement and follow athletic safety protocols per state and national regulations 

  • Oversee the athletic department budget, administering funds and accounts with fiscal responsibility

  • In coordination with the communications department, develop a strategy to effectively and concisely provide relevant information to parents and others in the community

  • The ability to create an inclusive and welcoming culture ensures all students can participate and excel in athletics

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to engage with coaches, students, faculty and staff, parents, and alumni effectively

  • Well-versed in developmental best practices for children in grades PK - 6  

  • Time management and planning skills

  • Adept at conflict management

  • Prompt and regular attendance is an essential function of this job. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Master's degree in a related field

  • Preferred qualifications:

    • Five to ten years of administrative experience in a school setting

    • Experience working in independent schools

    • Previous coaching and/or athletic administrative experience
