As one of the premier independent schools in Mississippi, Jackson Academy educates more than 1,200 students in grades Preschool (age 2) to twelve. To fulfill this mission, the school is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Upper School Geography/AP Human Geography Teacher to join our dynamic team beginning with the 2025-2026 academic year. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in history and a commitment to integrating faith with learning. This position will be responsible for:
- Teaching coursework in the respective discipline to upper school students;
- Designing engaging curriculum;
- Promoting a love for learning while nurturing the spiritual growth of our students;
- Assessing students and analyzing results;
- Refining and differentiating classroom instruction based student needs:
- Collaborating with colleagues in our Academic Success Center to improve student outcomes;
- Communicating regularly with students and their families about classroom activities and student progress;
- Managing student behavior to ensure every student is fully engaged;
- Actively participate in professional development activities,
- Serve as sponsors of student organizations and participate in campus and community events,
- Support the mission of Jackson Academy, and
- Perform other related work as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in History, Education, or a related field.
- Previous tutoring or teaching experience is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of high school history curriculum.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, enthusiasm, and a passion for education.
