Middle School Teacher

Full time Teacher

Job Description

Duke School (DS), an independent, project-based preschool through eighth grade school, offers an exceptional learning experience. In the middle school, students learn math, science, language arts, Spanish, and social studies in discrete classes, and in a dedicated project class carry out three projects which unite disciplines and place a premium on student inquiry and choice. Students also take classes in visual art, performing arts, physical education and learn media literacy from our media specialists; 5th and 6th graders take instrumental music. This engaging and rigorous environment challenges students to forge their own paths to learning. Each grade in the middle division features four subject-area teachers who both teach their discrete curriculum and collaborate to plan, deliver, and evaluate our project curriculum.

We are seeking an exceptional Middle School teacher with a sound understanding of best practices in teaching and working with adolescents to begin in August 2025. The ideal candidate will have an education degree and at least three years of teaching experience. A deep understanding of middle school philosophy and a commitment to the academic and social/emotional growth of students is essential. Being able to work collaboratively on a team is critical for success in this position.

Please e-mail your resume, including a list of references along with a cover letter. Diverse candidates are encouraged to apply. Compensation is commensurate with experience and abilities and reflective of local salary levels.
