Job Description

Jackson Academy, one of the premier independent schools in Mississippi, educates more than 1,200 students in grades Preschool (age 2) to twelve. Our commitment to providing an education to all students is core to our culture and mission statement. To fulfill this mission, the school is seeking an individual to serve as the Director of Learning Diversity. The Director’s primary responsibility will be to design, implement, and oversee the support offered through the multi-tiered program under the Academic Success Center umbrella. This tiered support meets the student where they are currently functioning, supporting the whole child on their educational journey.

Responsibilities:

● Oversee and direct learning facilitators in divisions

● Partner with faculty, administrators, students, and parents to maximize student potential

● Develop academic accommodation plans aligning with psycho-educational testing

● Recommend in-school and community resources for student needs such as testing, tutorial, and counseling

● Oversee and secure approved accommodations for students

● Serve on the Admissions Committee for all divisions to recommend and set up learning support as needed

● ACT Accommodations

● Ability to maintain effective and professional relationships with students, faculty, administrators and parents.

Qualifications and Experience:

● Training in brain-based or neurodivergent learning

● Experience in administration and/or learning support programs

● Solid understanding of psycho-educational testing and its application to learning and accommodations

● Knowledge and first hand experience with learning differences including ADHD, dyslexia, dysgraphia, CAPD, dyscalculia.

● Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree or beyond in administration or special education preferred.
