Dance Instructor Opportunity

Do you have a passion for dance and a talent for inspiring young artists? The Dunham School, an interdenominational college-preparatory Christian school in Baton Rouge, LA, is seeking a dedicated and energetic Dance Instructor to join our Fine Arts Faculty for the 2025-2026 school year. This opportunity involves teaching students in grades 5 through 12. Position Overview

As a Dance Instructor, you will teach and train students in a variety of dance styles and techniques, from beginner to advanced levels. You’ll be responsible for creating an engaging and dynamic learning environment, where students are encouraged to explore their creativity while mastering technical skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach a range of dance styles and techniques to students from 5th to 12th grade, based on the Louisiana Department of Education K-12 dance standards.

  • Lead elective dance classes for 9th–12th grade students, culminating in quarterly and annual showcases.

  • Develop lesson plans and curricula that align with school standards.

  • Inspire and motivate students to achieve their goals.

  • Create a fun, creative, and disciplined environment that encourages artistic growth and expression.

  • Collaborate with faculty and communicate effectively with students and parents.

  • Evaluate student performance and provide feedback for improvement.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Choreograph dance routines for annual musicals in the Lower, Middle and Upper Schools (after school hours).

  • Perform out of classroom duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Dance or equivalent qualification/experience.

  • Proven teaching experience in dance instruction.

  • Strong communication and leadership skills.

  • Enthusiasm, creativity, and dependability

  • Comfort and experience with educational technology such as Google Suite and digital platforms.

  • Patience and a passion for mentoring young dancers.
