Prince Avenue Christian School is currently accepting applications for a position of Academic Tutor students needing OG reading services in the ESS Learning Center. This is a full time position. |
Overview:
The primary function of this position is to provide reading support to students in need. It will also provide additional support, most often in math, English, and study skills, for our students in the form of a temporary period of intervention to augment skills not mastered in the classroom.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Work with the ESS Director to assist students who need additional instruction in academic classes.
· Schedule tutoring sessions for the students assigned at various times so that academic instructional time is not missed.
· Use best practices to tutor students in a manner that develop habits and skills for students to become independent learners.
· Provide appropriate feedback on student work.
· Maintain accurate and complete records of student progress.
· Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress.
· Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures, and perform other duties as assigned.
· Attend professional development classes as they are available.
· Assist with any test proctoring needed.
All faculty and staff are expected to play an integral role in the spiritual lives of students. This includes integration of a Biblical worldview into their subject matter and lessons.
Qualifications:
· A committed Christian who is active in an evangelical church ministry.
· Some knowledge of learning disabilities required.
· Bachelors or higher degree.
· Teaching experience preferred.
· Ability to reach all levels of ability in students
· Strong interpersonal skills - exceptional oral and written communication skills.
· Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite to include Outlook and Word.
· Orton-Gillingham trained/certified
