About Us: 

The Alabama Independent School Association (AISA) is dedicated to supporting and promoting, private, faith-based and independent schools across Alabama. We provide leadership, accreditation, professional development, athletic programs, student activities, resources, and advocacy to ensure our member schools excel in providing quality education. We are seeking a dynamic and creative Communications and Marketing Specialist to join our team.


Position Overview: 

The Communications and Marketing Specialist will be responsible for managing the association's social media presence, website content, press releases, event photography, and publications. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in digital marketing, social media management, excellent communication skills, and a passion for education.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Social Media Management: Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy across        various platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn). Create engaging content, monitor and respond to interactions, and analyze performance metrics.
  • Website Management: Maintain and update the AISA website with current information, events, news, and resources. Work with our website managing company to ensure the website is user-friendly and visually appealing.
  • Press Releases: Write, edit, and distribute press releases to media outlets. Develop and maintain relationships with local and regional media contacts.
  • Event Photography: Attend AISA events to capture high-quality photographs for use in publications, social media, and the website. Organize and manage a digital photo archive.
  • Publications: Create and design newsletters, brochures, annual reports, and other printed and digital materials. Coordinate with printers and other vendors as needed.
  • Content Creation: Develop and produce multimedia content, including videos, infographics, and blogs, to enhance AISA's digital presence.
  • Brand Consistency: Ensure all communications and marketing materials adhere to AISA's branding guidelines and maintain a consistent voice.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in communications, marketing, or a related role.
  • Proficiency in social media platforms and tools.
  • Experience with website content management.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Proficiency in graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, etc.).
  • Basic Photography skills and experience with photo editing software.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of the education sector and independent schools is a plus but not required. 

Preferred Skills:

  • Video production and editing skills.
  • Experience with email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp).
  • Familiarity with SEO and Google Analytics.
  • Event planning experience.

  • Overnight travel is limited, and occasional evening work for events may be required.
  •  While part of our work is remote, the candidate must be willing and able to travel to our office in Montgomery, AL on a regular basis.
