Elementary Spanish Immersion Lead Teacher 

QUALIFICATIONS

SUPERVISION  

  • Responsible for students 

  • Reports to Immersion Coordinator 

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Teach core subjects utilizing St. Peter’s curriculum 

  • Develop unit and lesson plans that engage students in the learning process, whether in-person or remotely 

  • Use differentiation strategies in individualized, small group, and large group instruction in order to meet the needs of each student  

  • Engage students in learning through best practice strategies conducive to dual-language immersion, such as TPR, scaffolding, and grammar instruction throughout content areas 

  • Assess students’ academic and social growth through quarterly report cards and biannual AALPA  evaluation 

  • Maintain records of student progress utilizing quarterly reading and math benchmarks 

  • Adheres to the “Spanish only” policy with immersion students in the classroom 

  • Communicate student progress with families through face-to-face conferences, Classtag digital  communication, and News & Notes hardcopy in child folders 

  • Establish positive classroom management routines to achieve a safe, respectful learning environment

  • Maintain a safe, clean, comfortable classroom environment  

  • Select and order instructional supplies, materials, and resources  

  • Perform various non-instructional duties, such as attendance, lunch count, recess, car duty, etc. 

  • Attend professional development growth activities on a regular basis  

  • Hours of Work: Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. all school days and scheduled in-service days (190/365). Teachers are expected to greet students as they enter the classroom at 7:45 a.m. Half Days: Students are dismissed at 11:30 a.m. However, most half days include a teacher/staff meeting. These hours are subject to change at the sole discretion of the Head of School. 

  • Attendance: Physical presence is expected during school days and hours for all student-facing positions.
