Job Description

Ascension Episcopal School seeks a full-time Educational Technology Specialist for the 2024-2025 school year.  The Educational Technology Specialist (ETS) is a pivotal role encompassing technology leadership, staff development, and instructional support across all campuses of our school. With a focus on identifying and addressing technology-related challenges, the ETS collaborates with school administrators to enhance current programs and ensure optimal integration of technology into our educational environment.

Responsibilities

Technical Support

  • Provide technical assistance and maintenance for a wide array of hardware and software, including TVs, interactive panels, iPads, MacBooks, document cameras, etc., while offering dedicated support to faculty, staff, and students throughout the year for issues such as cracked screens, data backup, app support, etc.

  • Assist with onboarding and offboarding processes for faculty, staff, and students as it relates to technology.

  • Set up classes on educational technology platforms and maintain rosters using Clever, SFTP uploads, and manual rostering.

  • Assist the technology team in the distribution and collection of devices.

 

Policy + Curriculum and Instruction

  • Identify and recommend educational technology solutions for classroom applications.

  • Collaborate with educators and administrators to design curriculum and source appropriate technologies.

  • Conduct research and stay updated on trends, methods, and programs for technology integration.

  • Deliver training and support to staff on integrating technology to enhance student achievement.

  • Collaborate with school leadership to ensure technology tools, platforms, and applications align with the school’s mission.

  • Support cybersecurity education efforts for faculty and staff.

  • Manage renewals and evaluation process of online subscriptions.

  • Work closely with Campus Directors to order textbooks. 

  • Collaborate with the Director of Innovation + Technology to update and assess Technology Handbook information.

  • Support tasks and goals to maintain Apple Distinguished School status.

 

Resources & Training

  • Develop and maintain learning resources, including tutorials, resource boards, and instructional videos.

  • Organize training procedures for new students and faculty, covering topics such as Google, computer basics, LMS/SIS navigation, etc.

  • Utilize the school LMS and Shared Drive as a resource for training and support of instructional technology resources.

  • Utilize Instagram and/or Facebook accounts to promote positive instructional technology practices and quickly provide teachers with resources.

  • Deliver new research, knowledge, tips, etc., continuously to faculty, staff, students, and parents through weekly newsletters and various initiatives.

  • Evaluate and promote technology competencies for all staff members.

  • Provide advanced training and support for Innovation + Technology teachers.

  • Support parents with technology-related topics through regular communication channels.

 

Student Help Desk/Upper School Intern Program

  • Maintain LMS tasks such as grading and assignments.

  • Supervise Individual Learning Endeavors (ILEs) and other training coursework.

  • Oversee planning and content development for Technology Instagram/Facebook accounts.

  • Offer on-the-job training for Help Desk Interns.

 

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree is required; a Master's degree is preferred.

  • 5+ years of teaching experience, preferably in middle or high school.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficiency in Apple devices, both hardware and software.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and commitment to professional integrity.

  • Experience with Google Workspace and LMS/SIS Systems (Blackbaud, Google Classroom)

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and demonstrate a passion for teaching and learning.

  • Knowledge of industry standards and best practices for using technology in schools, including the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Standards.
