Title: Middle School Social Studies Teacher (6th-8th)

Reports To: Middle School Head

Status: 10-month, exempt employee

Hours: School year hours: Monday - Friday, 7:40 am - 4:00 pm

On days that you have morning carpool duty, faculty or department meeting, you need report to school by 7:30 am.

Attendance at school events may be required.

Purpose of Position:

This position is responsible for instructing students in an independent school environment. Creates lesson plans, administers praise and constructive criticism, instructs students on subjects within the curriculum outlined for the particular grade level, and creates a well-rounded, comprehensive instructional program. The teacher will be expected to collaborate on projects with teachers across the middle school.


The position will work closely with the administrative team, faculty, parents, and students to accomplish the essential duties and responsibilities noted below.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (this list represents highlights):

  • Lead the delivery and development of social studies curricula for students in Middle School
  • Integrate technology meaningfully in lessons and units of study
  • Assess children's progress and issue reports
  • Communicate proactively with families
  • Collaborate with Middle School colleagues on cross-disciplinary projects and curriculum alignment
  • Actively engage in the life of the school community
