Job Description

Trinity School of Durham and Chapel Hill (TSDCH) is accepting applications for the position of Controller. The Controller, under the direction of the Director of Finance, manages the accounting operations of the School including budgets, analysis, auditing, production of periodic financial reports including statutory reporting to state and federal agencies, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the school’s reported financial results and ensures that reported results comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). This is a twelve month,  exempt position, reporting to the Director of Finance and is a member of the Business Office Team.  Application information is below.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, model Christian discipleship, and subscribe to Trinity School’s doctrinal commitments.

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required; CPA required.

  • Experience working in non-profit accounting required; experience in a school environment strongly preferred.

  • Experience with and firm understanding of current GAAP standards and accounting best practices, laws, and regulations.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to cultivate effective, professional relationships with students and families, faculty and staff.

  • A self-starter with the ability to manage time efficiently. 

  • Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Critical thinking and ability to exercise excellent judgment in decision-making.

  • Professional presentation and excellent written communication skills.

  • A high degree of cultural competency with demonstrated success working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

  • High ethical standards and strong professional boundaries.

  • Experience with Quickbooks preferred; experience with the Veracross school management platform is advantageous.

  • Proficiency in basic technology applications (i.e. MS Word, Excel); Google Apps knowledge is advantageous (i.e. Google Drive, Google Sheets, Google Docs, Gmail).
