The Transition Learning Support Program is dedicated to empowering students with diagnosed learning differences, including dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia. We aim to guide students toward their academic goals through tailored lessons and explicit executive functioning instruction. This is accomplished through the implementation of research-based strategies and responsive classroom experience, carefully curated for the unique strengths and needs of each student. As more than an educational initiative, the Transition program bridges the gap between diagnosed learning differences and academic success.

Specific Duties Include:
  • Assist individual students and groups of students in the performance of their assignments.
  • Assist teachers in the planning, developing, and monitoring of instructional lessons and school activities.
  • Complete progress monitoring assessments with individual students; assist the teacher in maintaining student records and files.
  • Lead morning meetings, lessons, and small groups as needed.
  • Prepare supplies and materials needed for lessons; assist with classroom maintenance.
  • Monitor students at recess and during auxiliary classes, as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by the teacher, Lower School Principal, or Transition Director.
 
Required Skills:
  • Ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
  • Knowledge of instructional methods/techniques in the elementary classroom.
  • Solid understanding of diverse learning profiles and learning disabilities.
  • Willingness to participate in professional development and training.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to take initiative and to follow directions accurately as appropriate.
  • Basic computer skills, including email and internet usage.
 
Minimum Job Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in Education or related field)
  • 3+ years’ experience in a school setting
 
The Associate Teacher Transition, Lower School position is a salaried, ten-month position. Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Benefits are substantial. EOE
