This position involves a full time middle school teaching position primarily teaching beginning Spanish classes at Level 1.  
 
Specific duties include:
  • Instructing students in subject content along with reading and grading student work
  • Demonstrating a high level of responsiveness to students
  • Serving as a homeroom teacher to a group of middle school students
  • Experience with proficiency-based instruction in an immersive environment preferred
  • Managing student behavior in a manner that optimizes the learning environment
  • Maintain regular communication with students and their parents regarding progress
  • Working cooperatively with other grade-level teachers to implement common course syllabi and assessments
 
Required Skills:
  • Have a working knowledge and experience teaching high school Spanish
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills demonstrating tact and diplomacy
  • Ability to leverage technology, including but not limited to, Microsoft Office, Google apps, language lab software and interactive whiteboard technology
  • A solid understanding of learning challenges as well as the accommodations and differentiated learning techniques to support such
  • Strong organizational and classroom management skills
 
Minimum Job Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree in Spanish or Foreign Language Education from an accredited institution of higher learning; master’s degree in Spanish or education preferred; native or near native fluency in Spanish
  • 3+ years of successful teaching high school Spanish preferred
  • Independent school experience preferred, but not required
 
The Teacher, Middle School Spanish position is a full-time employment position. Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Substantial benefits are available. EOE
