The Writer and Editor is a crucial Marketing and Communications team member. As our chief storyteller, this individual will echo the school's mission through compelling narratives and will bridge emotional connections with our diverse community, including students, families, alums, and employees.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Content Creation
Develop and execute a content strategy that aligns with institutional goals, reflecting our commitment to academic excellence and community values.
Write, edit, and proofread content for various platforms, including our weekly digital newsletter, quarterly alum bulletin, and semi-annual magazine.
Conduct in-depth interviews and research to ensure authenticity and depth in all stories.
Apply an inclusive lens to storytelling, representing all school communities.
Track engagement metrics and adjust content strategy to maximize effectiveness.
Collaboration
Partner with the Marketing and Communications team members to update website content consistently and edit our annual magazine.
Design and implement strategic social media campaigns in coordination with the Marketing and Communications team.
Work closely with Admissions, Philanthropy, Alumni Relations, and Athletics to align storytelling with their communication needs.
Uphold and refine the school's Brand and Style Guide with the Director, ensuring uniformity in all communications.
Community Engagement
Immersively understand our school's mission, vision, and values to maintain a cohesive brand voice.
Foster relationships with faculty, staff, and students, attending school events to capture real-time stories and experiences.
Participate in professional development opportunities.

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or a related field.
3-5 years of relevant experience in a communications or marketing role; experience in educational settings is a plus.
Skills
Demonstrated proficiency in writing, editing, and content production; a portfolio is a must.
Familiarity with journalism best practices and current storytelling trends.
Competency in digital tools: website CMS, basic HTML, social media platforms, email marketing, Google Workspace, and Adobe Creative Suite.
Knowledge of AP Style and prior experience with project management software.
Strategic and creative mindset with a passion for visual storytelling.
Ability to balance multiple projects, meet deadlines, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
Strong interpersonal skills and an aptitude for building relationships with diverse individuals.
