Job Description

Randolph School is seeking a creative, experienced teacher for a Science teaching position within our Middle School Division to begin in August 2024. This teacher will be responsible for teaching the required curriculum and will also serve as an integral member of the sixth grade team, building strong relationships with middle school students and acting as their advisor. The teaching responsibility will be Earth Science and would require close collaboration with faculty colleagues. The curriculum of the Earth Science course includes themes such as Earth’s structure, plate tectonics, rocks and minerals, fossils, weather, Earth’s atmosphere, and astronomy. Science teaching throughout Randolph School is hands-on and involves building content appropriate laboratory skills. 

The ideal candidate will be able to perform the following essential duties:

  • Work with the grade level team to address the needs of the whole child
  • Effectively monitor and manage student learning with an emphasis on hands-on laboratory work and the use of a variety of assessment methods to evaluate student progress
  • Integrate the teaching of effective organization and study skills
  • Use our Learning Management System to communicate and organize assignments
  • Identify and respond to individual students learning differences and create enrichment opportunities; differentiate instruction to meet the needs of various learners
  • Create a supportive and inclusive environment and develop respectful relationships with students by using conflict resolution and problem-solving techniques within the classroom
  • Exhibit effective written and oral communication (parent conferences, written correspondence including narrative reports, online course page)
  • Have a good general knowledge of laboratory safety and first aid issues, and be able to maintain OSHA guidelines for all activities
  • Maintain an effective, safe, and well-organized lab/classroom
  • Demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning
  • Share duties and responsibilities with other members of the Middle School faculty

This teacher will participate collaboratively and professionally with other faculty and staff to promote the general well-being of the Middle School and the school community in a manner that supports and promotes the Randolph School Mission.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Science Education or in an Earth or Environmental Science discipline
  • Minimum 2-3 years of science teaching experience preferred
