Summary of the Position:
The Montgomery Academy is seeking a teacher for Middle School Math, which sections could include Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, or Geometry. The purpose is to create a classroom environment that challenges and supports each student in his or her pursuit of excellence. A full teaching load is five sections per semester and a semester study hall.
Essential Duties and responsibilities:
Teach multiple sections of Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, or Geometry.
Effectively integrate educational technology (including iPads) appropriately into the curriculum including managing a LMS
Plan course materials and methods of instruction
Create and design lesson plans, instruction, and assessments
Serve as an Middle School advisor
Work closely and effectively with members of the math department to ensure that curriculum flows smoothly
Communicate with parents proactively, positively and professionally to support the academic, social-emotional, and physical needs of students
Engage in continued professional development
Integrate the language of leadership and character development into the classroom
Perform other duties to support the division and/or school as a whole
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s of Science degree in Mathematics or other relevant subject, advanced degree preferred
Teaching experience in math preferred
Creative, enthusiastic and growth-mindset approach to learning
Experience in the use of educational technology
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Genuine concern for students and their learning success
Collaborative approach to working with other faculty members
