Job Description

The Director of Development’s principal charge is to create numerous, efficient, and compelling opportunities for donors to support an organization and to make the experience of giving satisfying and rewarding.

Donor Development

  • Create a comprehensive annual giving plan for the school and implement it over the course of the school’s fiscal year.
  • Collaborate to create long-term development goals.
  • Develop and implement plans and programs for cultivating new and existing relationships over a broad constituent base (grandparents, parents of alumni, special friends) for involvement in annual giving, capital campaigns, projects/initiatives, and planned giving programs
  • Work with the Director of Communications to implement a communication and marketing plan to reach our current base of donors and engage new donors.
  • Identify, cultivate, and solicit major gift prospects (current parents, alumni parents, corporations, and foundations).
  • Collaborate with SCPS Business Partners to ensure proper cultivation, stewardship, and recognition of all supporters.
  • Plan and implement Georgia GOAL giving.
  • Manage donor recognition.
  • Oversee database management to maximize utilization of software.

Events

  • Ensure that the sponsorship and fundraising goals for the gala and any other volunteer-driven events generating annual support for the school are met or exceeded, providing leadership to the identification and solicitation of sponsorship and gifts through direct solicitation and committee support.
  • Work with the Events Coordinator in the planning of fundraising and donor cultivation events.
  • Attend SCPS events and develop and foster connections with prospective donors.

Database/Reporting

  • Oversee the management of the database.

Other responsibilities as assigned by administration.

Requirements
  • Models Christian character in speech and actions
  • Commitment to SCPS’ Vision Statement, Mission Statement and Core Values
  • Bachelor’s Degree and work experience or equivalent and relevant training and experience
  • Ideal candidate will have fundraising experience for nonprofit organizations
  • Project management skills
  • Well-organized, able to change work focus quickly and constantly throughout the day, as well as determine priorities with minimal supervision
  • Exceptional people and communication skills, phone etiquette, maintaining a positive, pleasant demeanor to all constituencies
  • Ability to write clearly and concisely and communicate through other mediums
  • Must be proactive, willing to change or implement new ideas by thinking outside the box to further the mission of the school
  • Must be able to lift 30 pounds
  • Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time during events and activities
