Art Teacher
Grade levels: Early Childhood – 8th Grade
Departments: Early Childhood, Lower School, and Middle School
Location: Art room with kiln
Immediate supervisors: Head of Lower School and Head of Middle School
Anticipated Start: Fall 2023
Art Teacher’s Primary Purpose: To design and implement creative and engaging art lessons that allow each student the opportunity to reach their God-given potential in a way that supports the mission and values of the school.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Specialization and passion for teaching art including pottery, mixed media, drawing, painting, chalk drawing and art history
Staying current with teaching strategies, techniques, and educational technology
Entering student artwork into local art contests and creation and execution of school wide art projects
Plan and implement school wide spring art show
Support the design and creation of sets for middle school theater production
Consistent and clear parent and student communication
Working collaboratively with administrators and colleagues
Participation on school committees
Attendance and participation in divisional meetings
Student arrival and/or dismissal duties
Adherence to Faculty Guidelines
Participating in professional development
Supervision of students
Ability to work well with others in a collaborative independent Christian school environment
Implementation of Woodland’s Educational Philosophy
Support the school’s Statement of Faith
Experience & Physical Requirements:
Teaching experience (minimum of three years preferred but not required)
Bachelor’s Degree Required, Master’s degree preferred in related field
Valid teacher licensure preferred
Proficient in advanced technology skills
Ability to regularly sit, turn, bend, reach, walk, talk, hear, and visually identify visitors
Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds
