St. Anne’s-Belfield School seeks a full-time English teacher and advisor for the middle school humanities program. A successful teacher leader in this position has the capacity to foster in students an enthusiasm for the exploration of ideas and concepts in a student-centered classroom. In Grades 5-8, English and history are scheduled separately by discipline but are interdisciplinary and collaborative in their approach. The English teacher at each grade works closely with the history teacher to develop and implement a curriculum designed to engage students in questions of citizenship and inspire students to see themselves as agents of change in the world. This role relies on someone who collaborates effectively with members of the middle school humanities department and the middle school faculty as a whole. Candidates ought to be confident, flexible, and passionate about interdisciplinary teaching and learning. Full-time classroom teaching experience, both online and in-person, strong organizational and classroom management skills, and the ability to joyfully teach middle school children are required. Ideal candidates will have experience teaching middle school-aged students in a standards-based learning environment (SBL) and hold a master's degree in English or a related field.
As an independent school, we value community involvement and expect that the selected candidate will serve as a coach, and/or engage in student-centered extracurricular programming beyond the classroom.
Interested candidates should apply for this position on the St. Anne’s-Belfield’s Career Opportunities website: https://stab.isolvedhire.com/jobs/825088.html
