 Position Summary:
Woodward Academy is seeking a passionate and dynamic Academy Psychologist. This position will serve students in grades PreK-12th grade to address the psychological and developmental needs that arise for students during the school year. The School Psychologist will work in conjunction with school counselors and multiple administrators across the five Academy schools (Primary School, Pre-K-3rd grade; Lower School, 4th-6th grade; Woodward North, Pre-K-6th grade; Middle School, 7th-8th grade; and Upper School, 9th-12th grade). The position will report to campus 40 hours per week.
 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Hold individual and group therapy/student sessions to address concerns such as wellness, stress reduction, emotional management, identity issues and increasing social skills strategies. These time-limited psychological treatment sessions may include documentation of the development of a variety of interventions to address students’ needs.
- Coordinate and offer grief or emergency counseling services in response to crises or tragedies affecting the community. The Academy Psychologist may counsel students and staff as needed.
- Serve as a resource and liaison to families and school counselors for processing psychological evaluations for accommodations and mental health support. The Academy Psychologist serves as a point of reference for other members of the Social Emotional and Wellbeing team who may work at the school or who are professionals within the community at large.
- Partner with administrators, school counselors and third-party entities, where applicable, to identify, assess and coordinate support for students, families and employees, providing them with social and/or emotional/behavioral assistance and community resource connections and facilitations if applicable .
- Serve as a resource for latest trends, research and best practices in areas of mental health and psychology. The Academy Psychologist will remain abreast of the needs of our most vulnerable community members and serve as a resource and informed advocate.
- Standardized test coordination (primary, middle and lower schools)
- Contribute to and participate in the Academy-wide and school level social-emotional wellness programming
- Attend academy-wide social- emotional wellness meetings
- Coordinate with counselors to assist with risk assessment, interventions and student safety contracts
- Coordinate with Parent Community Board and counselors to provide parent seminars and mental health education programming for students and employees
- Provide trainings in mental health intervention and support for school counselorsÂ
Qualifications and Experience:
- Expertise in CBT and other evidence-based psychotherapy.
- Ability to innovate and collaborate with others effectively.
- Four years of successful experience as a psychologist, counselor or therapist.
- Master of Arts or higher degree in psychology. Doctorate of Philosophy/Psychology preferred.
- Licensed School Psychologist or Licensed Psychologist.Â
- Knowledge of trends, practices and techniques in educational, social and emotional assessment functions.
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Awareness of social service and youth service agencies in Georgia.
