Position: Director of Education
Status: Full-time, Salaried
Linden Waldorf School is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to serve as the Director of Education. This position acts in a fiduciary capacity under the following four overarching guidelines for the school; pedagogical, fiscal, strategic and legal. In addition to a widely visible presence throughout the school, this role is responsible for professional development and is available to answer questions about the curriculum from parents and the greater community. This person holds the “big” pedagogical picture by keeping a finger on the pulse of the teachers’ work with the students and parents, communicating key information between groups and decision-makers, and guiding and working with the faculty to study and deepen understanding of Waldorf pedagogy and the students.
This position reports directly to the Head of School.

The Director of Education (DE) is responsible for managing the faculty, leading pedagogical initiatives that relate to the school’s strategic goals, and overseeing day-to-day affairs related to classroom and pedagogy.
The Director of Education collaborates to uphold and improve school policies and procedures, address new opportunities and challenges, and lead the community in carrying out the mission, vision, and values of the school. Together with the Head of School, they foster the advancement of the school and the pursuit of strategic plan goals.
Establish programs for the in-service training and evaluation of classroom teachers.
Observe, supervise, and evaluate the faculty.
Ensure that teachers are familiar with and adhere to school policies in all areas of the school’s operation.
Conduct regular meetings with faculty that address routine school matters and explore issues of educational and philosophical interest and concern.
Manage and support Instructional Coaches to provide support for faculty through observation, growth, goal setting, and opportunities for professional development.
Supervise and support faculty in reviewing and implementing the curriculum scope and sequence.
Works in conjunction with the Faculty Leadership Committee to support teachers through professional development and mentoring.
Supports teachers in their work with students and with parents as needed/requested.
Leads weekly faculty meetings.
Attends section (Early Childhood, Elementary, Middle School, and Subjects) meetings as needed.
Is a member of the faculty and performs all regularly assigned duties of other full-time faculty.
Serves as the faculty representative on the administrative team to provide pedagogical guidance, and facilitate the flow of information with faculty.
Serves on pedagogical hiring committees.
In conjunction with administration, supervises onboarding of all faculty.
Attendance/assistance at major all-school activities.
Supports the Faculty Leadership Council (FLC) in carrying out its responsibilities as stated in the FLC Mandate.
As a member of the leadership team:
Represents the school at public events and maintains a visible and accessible presence to the school and greater community.
Represents the school educational associations.
Is active in strategic planning and maintaining a long-term perspective on the development of the school and its programs.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Education or a related field
At least 5 years of teaching experience
Belief in the mission, vision, and values of Linden Waldorf School and the philosophy of Waldorf education
Commitment to completing a Waldorf leadership training program and/or ongoing professional development related to Waldorf education and leadership
Master’s Degree from an accredited university in Education of a related field
Waldorf teacher certification
Salary is scaled based on experience and education.
