Job Description

Job title: Lower School Classroom Teacher 

Classroom Teacher’s Primary Purpose: To design and implement engaging and differentiated lessons that allow each student the opportunity to reach their God-given potential in a way that supports the mission and values of the school.


Department: Lower School (Senior Kindergarten – Fourth Grade)
Immediate supervisor: Head of Lower School 

Anticipated Start: Fall 2023

Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Specialization and passion for teaching elementary students 

  • Implementation of Woodland’s Educational Philosophy 

  • Staying current with teaching strategies, techniques, and educational technology 

  • Consistent and clear parent and student communication

  • Working collaboratively with administrators and colleagues  

  • Planning and directing a grade level play 

  • Planning and attendance of field trips 

  • Participation on school committees 

  • Attendance and participation in divisional meetings 

  • Student arrival and/or dismissal duties 

  • Adherence to Faculty Guidelines 

  • Participating in professional development 

  • Supervision of students 

  • Ability to work well with others in a collaborative independent school environment

  • Support the school’s Statement of Faith


Experience & Physical Requirements: 

  • Teaching experience (minimum of three years) 

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required, Master’s degree preferred in related field 

  • Valid teacher licensure preferred 

  • Proficient to advanced technology skills 

  • Ability to regularly sit, turn, bend, reach, walk, talk, hear, and visually identify visitors 

  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds
