Job Description

The Inclusive Teaching and Learning Specialist will work with the Center for Professional Growth and Learning, the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, the Principals, and the faculty to support diverse, equitable, and inclusive teaching and learning. In addition, the Inclusive Teaching and Learning Specialist will serve as a member of the Center for Professional Growth and Learning and will be responsible for working with and modeling for teachers how to create more inclusive and equitable learning environments, curricula, and content.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Embody and advocate for the mission and vision of the school.
  • Support mapping, designing, and implementing a culturally responsive, relevant curriculum that embodies tenets of best practices around diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and social-emotional learning.
  • Partner with faculty to include diversity, equity, and inclusion teaching in curriculum planning and implementation.
  • Provide resources and support for faculty to enhance inclusive teaching and learning efforts.
  • Support the development of culturally competent students through our academic programming and approach.
  • Partner with faculty to support diversity, equity, and inclusion in curricular initiatives (ex. Immersion, Excursion).
  • Visit teacher classrooms to provide support for teaching and learning.
  • Participate as a member of the Growth and Renewal team.
  • Support the vision of the Director of DEI.
  • Support the implementation of the Strategic Plan and initiatives related to the Plan.
  • Teach 1-2 classes as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Specialized Skills and Knowledge:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Apps for Education.
  • Substantial coursework and/or training in areas of diversity, equity, inclusion, social justice, and belonging.
