Job Description

The Upper Learning Technology and Innovation Teacher is primarily responsible for teaching a full load of courses (five per semester), serving as an advisor, and engaging joyfully and collaboratively with the Galloway community. Courses might include coding and programming, computing and data analysis, computational thinking, web design, game design, robotics, or others based on teacher expertise and student interest.

The responsibilities include and are not limited to:

  • Teach five sections of technology courses in Upper Learning.
  • Facilitate/coordinate a differentiated and globally integrated technology curriculum that promotes student engagement through project-based learning, hands-on activities, experimentation and iteration, and other active approaches to learning.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of the IDEA Lab (makerspace and equipment) so that students can efficiently work on projects and design challenges that are initiated in their classes or taken up as student-driven independent endeavors.
  • Stay up to date on new technology trends, teaching strategies, and best practices in the field of computer science and incorporating these in your teaching.
  • Support and Contribute to the mission, vision, and plans of the technology department.
  • Participate constructively and collaboratively in professional development, grade level, and department meetings.
  • Oversee and maintain the school’s Farmbot.
  • Maintain a safe, comfortable, and engaging classroom environment.
  • Serve as an advisor to an assigned group of students. 
  • Embody and advocate for the mission and vision of the school.
  • Experience teaching in a 9-12 setting preferred.
  • Expertise in the field of computer science preferred.
  • Proficiency with Python, JavaScript, and C/C++/C#  preferred.
