High School Learning Specialist 2023-2024

Wesleyan School is a K - 12 Christian school of academic excellence, committed to a diverse faculty and student body supported by a director of diversity and division coordinators. Wesleyan is a full-activity school located in Peachtree Corners, Georgia, a northeastern suburb of Atlanta, with opportunities for students to participate in athletics and the arts. This open position is for a high school learning specialist. A bachelor’s degree is required, and formal classroom teaching experience is preferred.

The high school learning specialist is responsible for supporting students with mild to moderate learning differences in acquiring the executive and study skills necessary to be independent learners in Wesleyan’s academically rigorous environment. In addition to providing small group, one-on-one, and in-class support, the learning specialist may occasionally teach large group executive skills lessons to an entire grade level or high school division. The learning specialist will also be responsible for collaborating with the general classroom teachers to provide guidance in supporting students and appropriately applying Wesleyan’s accommodations. To facilitate a team approach, the learning specialist will effectively communicate with administration, faculty, and parents on the students’ needs. Additionally, the high school learning specialist will assist in providing ongoing professional development to the staff on best practices for intervention and differentiated instructional strategies.
