Trinity Episcopal School is seeking a full-time science teacher in middle school for the 2023-2024 school year. The teaching role includes four or five sections of middle school science teaching in grades 6-8 and a possible enrichment class. The middle school science teacher is also responsible for adopting and creating materials needed for instruction, as well as all formal and informal assessments, including communications with parents via report cards and conferences. The middle school science teacher fulfills the duty of student advisor and will shepherd ten to twelve students in grades six through eight as their Koinonia (Greek for fellowship) leader/advisor, and the role requires travel on overnight trips one to two times per year.

Our collaborative decision making process is best served by someone who has a commitment to the school’s Mission and its community. Finally, like all other faculty, the middle school science teacher will assist the overall educational efforts of the school by participating whenever and wherever he/she can.
Job Description
Primary Responsibilities: The Middle Science Teacher’s primary responsibilities include the following:
Teach several Science classes in grades 6, 7, 8 as assigned
Design and update curriculum for all classes taught
Communicate with families through report cards and conversations
Plan for the accommodation of learning differences via the usage of appropriate technology tools, i.e. adaptive/assistive devices, audio recordings, etc.
Facilitate a Koinonia group
Cover recess, lunch and carpool duties on a rotating basis as a member of the MS instructional team
Attend all field trips, service learning outings, community events and gatherings and serendipitous learning opportunities
All other duties as assigned by the Head of Middle School

Education and Work Experience
Previous teaching experience in a Middle School classroom environment is preferred
While this is primarily a Science position, a broad, generalist background in teaching would be a plus
Minimum of an undergraduate degree is required
Skills and Qualifications
Ability to partner with other teachers in the department in order to help deliver a cohesive program for studentsÂ
Ability to prepare unit plans, daily lesson plans, classroom materials and assessments
Preferred experience using the following digital learning programs: Google Workplace for Education, EdPuzzle Â
Excellent interpersonal, presentation, writing, organizational and communication skills
