The Savannah Country Day School seeks a creative, innovative, and energetic French teacher to join its learning community for the 2023-2024 academic year. This full-time position will include teaching assignments in our Middle and Upper Schools. The ideal candidate will be able to meet the varied needs of our diverse student body, to teach different levels, to bring languages to life, and to inspire students to learn more about the culture, history, and richness of the Francophone world. Commitment to ongoing professional development, including building collegial relationships in a dynamic K-12 World Language Department, as well as willing to develop warm connections with learners and their families is essential. Candidates with excellent interpersonal and organizational skills who are eager to explore collaborative and interdisciplinary teaching opportunities, and who know how to marry a CI teaching philosophy with technology are encouraged to apply.
· Bachelor’s degree in French or a related field, Master’s Degree strongly preferred.
· Three (3) or more years’ teaching experience strongly desired.
· Candidates should possess a very strong proficiency in French with a solid background in language acquisition theory and pedagogy.
· The ideal candidate will have the ability to teach a range of French courses, from Middle School to AP level.
· Excellent communication skills and a willingness to function as part of the World Language Department team is desired.
· Attendance at evening and weekend functions is occasionally required.
