Job Description

Charlotte Latin School has an exciting opportunity for a Middle School Math teacher beginning in August 2023.  Latin is seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and flexible teacher who is highly versed across introductory, intermediate, and advanced levels of Middle School math. This position is ideal for motivated teachers with a particular passion for teaching middle school students. Additional responsibilities may include sponsoring extra-curricular activities, advising, and/or coaching.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach four sections of Middle School math

  • Serve as a Middle School advisor to 10-12 Middle School students

  • Work collaboratively and effectively with peers in support of student achievement and curriculum development

  • Perform other related duties, such as club advisor, recess supervisor, carpool, etc., as required and assigned by the Head of Middle School

Education and Experience

Particular consideration will be given to applicants equally versatile for teaching assignments in math across levels and grades. Desirable candidates will display strong collegiality, a sincere interest in contributing to student life activities, and a philosophical alignment with our core values and curriculum.

  • Bachelors degree in Math, and/or Education Required. Masters or doctoral degree are preferred.

  • Experience teaching Middle School math required.

  • Experience teaching in an independent K-12 school preferred, preferably at the middle grades level.

In addition, candidates should demonstrate:

  • An ability to contribute to a high-performing team, including strong initiative and organizational skills

  • Proficiency in Google Suite

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Knowledge and experience in child development, educational practices, and culturally responsive teaching

  • Experience working with students with learning differences
