Job Description

Trinity Episcopal School is seeking a Technology and Innovation Dean effective immediately. This employee is a member of the K-8 faculty and reports directly to the Assistant Head of School for Academics. This 11-month, full-time position is responsible for the overall vision, leadership, and execution of academic technology and innovation within Trinity Episcopal School. The Technology and Innovation Dean supports the work of the School by promoting the mission, values, and policies of Trinity Episcopal School.

The Technology and Innovation Dean’s primary responsibilities include the following:

Programmatic Coordination and Leadership

  • Work collaboratively with the Academic Leadership Team to plan and implement the use of educational technology within the instructional curriculum

  • Act as a consultant in decisions involving the intersection of computing and school culture and/or curriculum

  • Meet regularly with the lower school and middle school Academic Deans to evaluate digital pedagogy and technology integration in classrooms

  • Work collaboratively with the IT Director to plan major rollouts, student device deployment and collection, and device refresh cycles

  • Oversee the IDEA Lab, (Innovation, Design, Engineering, and Art), including an annual budget to keep technologies updated

  • Review and update the K-8 technology curriculum

  • Research and evaluate emerging tools, technologies, and pedagogies to stay current in the industry

  • Maintain an active presence in the local, regional, and national communities of design, engineering, and instructional technology

  • Collaborate and network with other schools, organizations, technology specialists, and others who can help further promote the School’s effective use of technology as an instructional tool and as a tool for supporting faculty and staff daily work.  

Student Instruction 

  • Teach Lower School technology classes and 6th-grade Computer Science

  • Design and update a curriculum for Lower School technology classes that incorporates design thinking, computing, and digital citizenship 

  • Inspire and support students to pursue their passions in design, innovation, and technology 

  • Plan for the accommodation of learning differences via the usage of appropriate technology tools, i.e. adaptive/assistive devices, audio recordings, etc.

Faculty Partnerships and Professional Development 

  • Design, deliver and oversee professional development and growth experiences in areas of innovation, technology integration, and instructional design.

  • Work closely with grade level and divisional teams to foster an environment of thoughtful, creative, and independent use of technology and build excitement for leveraging technology in the curriculum.

  • Coach teachers and model design and implementation of technology-enhanced learning experiences

  • Support faculty in the implementation of digital learning programs, including analyzing student performance data

  • Meet regularly to plan with the 7th grade Computer Science and Design Engineering Elective teacher to create/maintain a cohesive K-8 technology curriculum

Parent Support

  • Support parents in the effective implementation of the Responsible Use Policy (RUP), and promote appropriate, ethical use of technology in accordance with school policy

  • Provide parent engagement programs and resources on technology topics that relate to student life and digital citizenship

  • Serve as a resource to parents in the use of technology as it relates to their children or information from the School. 

General Administration and Responsibilities 

  • Provide occasional backup technology support assistance  to teachers, staff  and students

  • Collaborate with the IT Director to resolve IT related issues (hardware) as needed 

  • Assist in the imaging of computer systems prior to the beginning of the school year

  • Manage subscription renewals for digital learning programs

  • Create and manage student and faculty accounts for digital learning programs

  • Help promote the School by welcoming prospective parents and visitors into the classroom in conjunction with the Admission office

  • All other duties as assigned by the Assistant Head of School
