Charlotte Latin is seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our cohort of Latin Fellows as a Student Leadership Development Fellow for the 2023-2024 school year. Latin Fellows is designed to provide guidance, training, and experience to recent college graduates considering teaching as a career. Latin Fellows are not considered interns or student teachers; rather, they are full-time employees treated as colleagues within their departments under the mentorship of expert teachers.
Fellows have many opportunities to contribute to the school community and for personal and professional development. Examples may include sponsoring a club, coaching, attending conferences, and chaperoning domestic, international, or Leadership Development related travel experiences.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Participate in ongoing Fellows Program professional development
Co-teach Student Leadership Development/Team Building in Lower School grades 2-5 and/or Middle School
Understand the scaffolding of the Leads with Honor (leadership program name) attributes
Design and expand the student leadership curriculum
Partner with Lower School families/ take-home initiatives
Participate in Leads with Honor Committee work
Co-facilitate high and low challenge/ropes courses on the Charlotte Latin campus
Learn to set up challenge/ropes course elements
Learn facilitation techniques
Engage in Upper School with co-curricular student leadership endeavors
Examples could include Student Athletic Leadership Team (SALT), North Carolina Outward Bound School, Outdoors Club, Hawks LEAD
Attend experiential educational professional development conferences and training
Commit to supporting the development of students as individuals
Foster critical thinking skills
Build connections between course content and community
Engage in the broader work of the Student Leadership Development Department and Charlotte Latin School
Completed Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education on or before June 30, 2023.
Background or personal interest in experiential or outdoor/adventure education.
Basic technology skills.
Job-related experience or personal interest in experiential or outdoor/adventure education.
Proficient with using technology as an instructional complement.
Exhibit a love of working with children.
Devoted to meeting the needs of the whole child – academic, social, emotional and developmental.
Committed to safety and civility.
Exhibit willingness to adapt to new and innovative teaching methodologies.
Show a great deal of flexibility in working with colleagues and students and sharing classroom space.
Willing and able to resolve conflicts with colleagues, parents and between students.
