Crosland is currently seeking a music teacher ideally full-time (part-time is a possibility if interested). Our ideal candidate will possess a knowledge base and passion for teaching students with learning differences and be able to organize and implement a music program that will capitalize on student strengths and be in accordance with our mission.
Teach K-8th music classes to students with learning differences (three sections of middle school band, one section of 5th grade beginning band, one section of Kindergarten general music, and one section of 4th grade general music)
Engage students in learning music reading and performance on brass, woodwind, and percussion band instruments
Implement lessons that incorporate elements of music including tempo, rhythm, melody, harmony and timbre
Plan and implement a band curriculum that will enhance technical skill, music appreciation, and an understanding of the process of creating music
Supervise and support executive functioning of students in 7th/8th grade advisory in the mornings and afternoons (if full time).
Maintain Google Classroom content
Use behavior management systems that are effective with students with learning differences
Provide a positive environment that encourages students to actively participate in their own learning
Prepare band students for one Spring showcase performance
Communicate on a regular basis with division director to discuss student progress (parent communications/maintaining positive relationships with families)
Model professional and ethical standards when interacting with students, parents, peers and the community
Additional duties as assigned
Experience in music, music education or related field, Bachelor’s degree preferred
Strong desire to engage students with learning differences through music
Knowledge of multi-sensory teaching methodologies
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to assist with instruments and lift 20lbs. Tasks may require extended periods of time standing, circulating the room, and being able to sit on the floor as needed.
