Position Title: Upper School German
Reports to: Head of Upper School
Employment Status: Full Time
FLSA Classification: Exempt
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Walker seeks an energetic and dedicated individual to assume the lead teaching position of a successful, nationally recognized German program for the 2022-2023 school year. The Walker World Language curriculum is based on the ACTFL Standards for Foreign Language Learning in the 21st Century and the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines. By incorporating ACTFL's three modes of communication (interpersonal, interpretive, and presentational), the World Language Department enables students to advance along the continuum of language proficiency. The teaching load is three sections (German II, III, and a combined Honors IV and AP German course). For candidates interested in teaching just the three German courses, the position would be part-time. We are also open to candidates who are interested in a full-time teaching position that would include an additional subject, particularly an additional world language (Latin, French, or Spanish)

The candidate will have experience teaching across multiple levels of German--including Advanced Placement--and can deliver instruction featuring extensive input in a comprehensible manner while maintaining a low-anxiety environment. Preference will be given to candidates interested in contributing to the full life of the school through coordinating this exchange, coaching, or sponsoring a major school activity.
