SouthLake Christian Academy was founded in 1994 as a ministry of SouthLake Presbyterian (PCA) Church. The school started with just 23 students in grades K-3, and now enrolls 650 students in junior kindergarten through 12th grade. As the school has grown, it has broadened its program to now offer a rigorous academic program, outstanding athletics, and a deep commitment to the arts. While it is significantly larger than it was at the time of its founding, SLCA retains a smaller-school atmosphere, where all members of the community are known by name and where the distinct academic, personal, and spiritual needs of students are supported.
SouthLake Christian provides an accelerated curriculum that prepares graduates to excel in their chosen field of study in college. The school’s 40 athletic teams offer competitive programs for middle and high school students, and the fine arts program develops students in the visual, musical and theater arts. SLCA’s missions and community service programs provide outreach opportunities for students to engage with its community, the nation, and the world.
SLCA is conveniently located in the Lake Norman area north of Charlotte on 30 acres in Huntersville, NC. The campus and facilities have grown over the years to accommodate the growth of the community. Current facilities include three academic buildings, a gymnasium, a field house (with weightlifting, classroom and training rooms), a baseball complex, a cross country course, and a turf athletic field for soccer, lacrosse and football. An additional turf field and track is currently in the design phase and a new fine arts building is expected to be completed in late 2024.
SouthLake Christian is accredited by Cognia, a K-12 division of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Additional accreditation is held by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). It is a member of the North Carolina Association of Independent Schools.
