Arbor Montessori School

Arbor Montessori School is searching for a Business Manager who, reporting to the Head of School, will oversee the School’s financial activity as well as risk management, Human Resources, facilities, and maintenance.  The Business Manager is responsible for the School’s accounting, payroll, benefits, audit, banking, investments, and operations.

The Business Manager prepares and monitors the annual operating budget and informs school strategy by providing the Head of School and Board of Trustees with recommendations, financial analysis, projections, and relevant data.  Additionally, he/she serves as a non-voting member on the Executive Committee, Board, Finance Committee, Personnel Advisory Committee, and any other committee that may need the Business Manager’s input.  He or she works closely with the Development Director to support fundraising initiatives; ensures risk management; reviews annual insurance renewals, negotiates all significant contracts (janitorial, software licenses, consultants, construction, HVAC maintenance, copier leases, security vendors, technology, to list a few), and coordinates with Maintenance to ensure effective safety measures.  The Business Manager administers the financial aid program and oversees billing and tuition collection.

Candidates must hold a degree in accounting, business administration, or finance and have at least five (5) years of experience in financial and business management, preferably at independent schools.  They should have good communication and collaboration skills and the ability to interact positively and productively with faculty, staff, students, parents, and vendors to problem-solve, think critically, and develop creative solutions.   The Business Manager must have high ethical standards, integrity, and judgment and the ability to handle confidential, sensitive information with the utmost discretion.

Arbor Montessori is a private, non for profit school founded in 1970.  We are located on two campuses in Decatur, GA with almost 10 acres of property.  We adhere to the AMI Montessori pedagogy and serve children ages 18 months through 14 years.  We are a welcoming and happy community that serves between 250-300 students and we are looking forward to finding a great candidate to become a member of our close community.
