Global Village Project

GVP serves refugee students who live in Clarkston, Georgia, one of the most diverse cities in the nation. As a nonprofit middle school, GVP provides a full-day, tuition-free academic program that serves 40-50 refugee learners from all over the world. The typical GVP student has been in the U.S. for less than three years and has missed an average of three years of school (and up to six).

GVP centers the needs and experiences of young women who face multiple barriers to their education - as refugees, newcomers, English Language Learners, and more. Our transformative educational model is designed to not only meet the needs of refugee young women, but also amplify the strengths, skills, and voices they bring to our learning community. Through the foundation they acquire at GVP, refugee girls gain the tools and support they need to become highly successful students and empowered citizens.

Global Village Project Decatur, GA, USA
Global Village Project was founded in 2009 as a model for innovative, equitable refugee education. As the only school in the U.S. for refugee girls, we aim to remove the barriers to students’ learning and amplify their voices as creative young leaders. Our full-day academic program serves up to 50 refugee young women from Clarkston, Georgia, and is designed specifically for their needs as English language learners, with trauma-informed practices and restorative justice at its center. In the 2026/27 school year, GVP will relocate to a bigger campus in Decatur, with a capacity to reach up to 100 students each school year. We are a team of educators, of lifelong learners, and of people who care deeply about girls’ education, and together we are building a multicultural, multilingual community of students and staff.    ABOUT THE ROLE As GVP’s ELA (English Language Arts) & Reading ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) Teacher , you will plan and deliver...
